Al Ahly’s Director of Football, Sayed Abdelhafiz reflected on our 3-0 victory over DR Congo’s AS Vita Club in Matchday 4 of the CAF Champions League.
“We played a very good game and our players managed to dominate the match since the beginning. We had the upper hand in our previous game against the Congolese team in Cairo, but we faced bad luck which prevented us from winning the match.”
“Football fields in Africa must be modified, especially in the CAF Champions League which is the elite competition in Africa. However, the players dealt with the pitch in the best possible way, besides that, the weather helped us be at our best levels, unlike the previous games when we played in a very hot weather.”
“Today’s game was held on an artificial turf that was established 16 years ago, which affects the players’ performance.”
“Our players were determined to win today’s game. So, I would like to thank
all of them for their impressive performance, as they overcame this difficult situation.”
“We still have two games against Al Merrikh SC and Simba SC and we must concentrate in order to qualify to the next round.”
“The team will not be affected by any absences, as Al Ahly always seek to win. We missed several players such as Ali Maaloul, Mahmoud Wahid, Walid Soliman, Salah Mohsen, Akram Tawfik, Nasser Maher, and Ramy Rabia. However, the team’s spirit and performance were not affected and we managed to win the game.”
“Today’s game was not easy, as we used to share the same number of points as AS Vita Club. We were in a difficult situation and we had to win, but in the end, we achieved an impressive victory.”
“Finally, we will start focusing on our upcoming matches.”
